Healthy People 2020

Community initiatives to address health have a wealth of resources available through the national Healthy People initiative.  In December Healthy People 2020 was released.

“Healthy People is a set of goals and objectives with 10-year targets designed to guide national health promotion and disease prevention efforts to improve the health of all people in the United States.” (www.healthypeople.gov).

My career has included ten years in the healthcare arena, much of it in public health.  For me “Healthy People in Healthy Communities” has had great significance for work I’ve been involved with and a framework that supports much of what we are doing to make our communities healthy and vibrant places for us all to live.  I invite you to explore the new website and review the vast array of resources we can use here in Yavapai County.

 All the best for 2011.
